MSC will increase the capacity of LCT (Lomé Container Terminal) from 2.2 to 2.7 MEVP. Investment: € 29.8 million. With 1.36 MEVP handled in 2020, LCT's share in the overall container traffic of the port of Lomé is around 90%, ahead of TogoTerminal (Bolloré Transport & Logistics).

Company: Zimbabwe Information Technology Company (Zitco), collaboration between the telecoms company TelOne, Flushcord Enterprises and the Chinese company Inspur. Ethiopian Airlines and Air Djibouti have partnered with the Port of Djibouti to provide an air and sea freight platform from Djibouti airport. The goal is to recover around 50% of the 850,000 tonnes of goods that arrive in Dubai by boat to be transported to the African continent by air.

CMA CGM will manage and operate “Pier 55”, the future multipurpose terminal of the port of Alexandria. With a capacity of 1.5 million TEUs, this terminal will be operational in 2022. It will cover an area of 56ha with more than 2km of quays.
In Gabon, the Chinese company Jia Ming Plastics Manufacturing has inaugurated a plant for converting plastic waste into strips. Location: Special Economic Zone of Nkok. The production of recycled plastic straps will be used for the packaging activities of wood exports. Production: 300 tons of strips / month. Direct jobs created: 500. Investment: 1 billion FCFA. The Nkok SEZ is home to 88 companies specializing in wood processing, of which 61 are already operational and 27 are under construction.
Cameroon: Eramet has started the second phase of its exploration work on the rutiliferous block of Akonolinga, in the Center region of the country. The potential of this block is estimated at 500,000 tonnes of rutile.

Nigeria's power grid experienced at least one major failure every month between 2009 and 2019. None of the major distributors are able to ensure continuous power supply. The optimum electricity transmission capacity of the federal grid is between 3.5 and 4.5 GW. This forces resident, commercial and industrial consumers to use the means of self-generation of electricity to meet their needs. Almost 81% of households have access to electricity less than 8 hours a day. The range of electricity production by means of generators varies between 70 and 130 naira / kWh against 28 naira / kWh for the electricity tariff in force in the country.
The company Ecodudu (Kenya) has developed an innovative process to produce highly nutritious animal feeds and organic fertilizers, leveraging insects. The company developed a process using Black Soldier Fly larvae to convert food and organic waste in nutritious and protein-dense biomass. The resulting residues are subsequently processed into environmentally friendly and nutrient rich organic fertilizers. The company produces two signature product lines, Dudu Meal, an insect-based animal feed for aquaculture and other feedstocks; and Shamba Mix, an organic fertilizer.
Development Partners International (DPI) through its ADP III fund, CDC Group and the EBRD have joined forces to create a new pan-African biopharmaceutical platform. The platform will execute a buy and build strategy to improve the availability and affordability of essential pharmaceuticals across Africa. Platform has received an initial $250m in capital from its founding investors and plans to raise up to an additional $500m. The initial capital has been used to fund the acquisition and combination of Adwia Pharmaceuticals, an Egyptian generic drugs manufacturer, and Celon Laboratories, an Indian oncology and critical care specialist. The platform will leverage its manufacturing and R&D centre of excellence in India to strengthen its local manufacturing operations in Africa, while capturing synergies from centralised supply chain management and business development.

ONE (Ocean Network Express, bringing together the shipowners NYK Line, MOL and K Line) will open its own line connecting northern Europe to West Africa. Until now ONE has relied on transshipment at the West-Mediterranean ports to move containers from Europe and Asia to West Africa. The first departure should take place in February 2021. The service will link Hamburg, Rotterdam, Antwerp, Le Havre, Algeciras, Tangier, Dakar, Tema and Abidjan, and back.
