Champions in Wind Turbine Manufacturing
Four wind turbine manufacturers have been identified, two in South Africa, one in Egypt (towers manufacturer) and one in Morocco (blades).
Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy closed its Moroccan wind turbine blade manufacturing plant in early 2023. The unit had started production at the end of 2017 in the “Tangier Automotive City” free zone. It produced 63m-long blades for SWT-DD-130 turbines up to 4.2 MW rated power. Production capacity: 650 blades/year.
