Kenyan company BasiGo starts assembling electric buses in Kenya. The company plans to assemble 1,000 electric buses over the next three years, creating 300 green jobs. Basigo has also been expanding in Rwanda since 2023 through a partnership with AC Mobility. BasiGo’s dedicated electric bus assembly line is located in Thika, at Kenya Vehicle Manufacturers. The “E9 Kubwa” electric bus model has a recharge time of less than 2 hours, and can travel up to 400 km per day. Seating up to 54 passengers, it introduces a new level of comfort, connectivity and safety for Nairobi’s commuters: leather seats, WiFi, USB charging points, CCTV cameras and the highest international safety standards.
