Although hydrogen energy is becoming an increasingly important decarbonization tool, the high financial costs and carbon intensity of its production present significant barriers to its widespread adoption. African countries are, however, uniquely positioned to capitalize on green hydrogen production. Green hydrogen initiatives and internationally funded projects are appearing across the continent, popping up in countries such as Egypt, Mauritania, Namibia, and South Africa.

In this burgeoning market, fostering transparency, increasing visibility, and understanding the investment ecosystem are of paramount importance for the continent and for investors as they look to attain the benefits of green hydrogen.
