The 3 “Leaders” in the manufacturing of Wind farms equipment

Three wind turbine manufacturers have been identified, of which two in South Africa and one in Egypt (towers manufacturer).

Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy closed its Moroccan wind turbine blade manufacturing plant in early 2023. The unit had started production at the end of 2017 in the “Tangier Automotive City” free zone. It produced 63m-long blades for SWT-DD-130 turbines up to 4.2 MW rated power. Production capacity: 650 blades/year.

Chinese wind turbine blade manufacturer Aeolon has launched in 2023 the construction of a blade factory in Morocco. Total estimated investment: $245 million. Location: Nador Industrial Acceleration Zone. Surface area: 50ha. Production capacity: 600 sets of blades/year. Expected employment: 3,300 people. Expected sales > $680 million. The Nador plant will be Aeolon’s first production site outside China. It should be operational by the end of 2024. This investment has yet to be confirmed.
