Alstom plans to install two rail equipment manufacturing units. The first will produce electrical systems and railway components (signalling panels, control circuits, electrical braids). The second will specialize in the manufacture of various types of mobile units for metro lines, streetcars, light rail, monorail and express trains. Products from both plants are intended to meet the needs of Line 6 of the Cairo metro and for export to several countries. Surface area: 12 ha. Location: Borg al-Arab. 1,200 jobs planned (Agence Ecofin – 07/07/2023).
